The Iconic Puzzle Game Couldn't Triumph at The Game Awards — An Additional Classification Could Fix That

Each time a significant awards ceremony approaches, there’s always an outcry for introducing additional classifications to recognize overlooked contributions and delight the spirits of followers who have specialized interests.

My colleague has already made advocating for terror-themed awards. That would rule. Equally deserving are board games, representing someone's personal cause. However, I must insist when I prioritize since similar to blinkered fanatics, I have a cast-iron argument for why my demand remains most pressing and important of all. This is the request: We need a classification for brain-teasing titles.

Organizing Gaming Categories

Classifying creative works is not a science; it’s very subjective, and typically spark debates resulting in unclear classifications. There’s a reason film award organizations don’t do it. However, it represents an essential concession within the realm of gaming, that demonstrate such variety they hardly constitute as a single art form.

To recognize the complete range of achievement in video games to gain proper attention, while allowing diverse titles to have a chance for representation, specific award classifications remain vital.

Current Gaming Award Categories

The major gaming awards currently feature genre categories for Action-oriented games, Adventure-action titles, RPG experiences, Fighting, Sim/Strategy, plus athletic and racing experiences. Between them, these six categories successfully include many game types, making space possible accommodating various experiences.

Not so for brain-teasing titles. No appropriate category exists to put them. Think about these outstanding current releases, showing diverse approaches: building puzzles from a specific release, the pulse-pounding block-matching of another game, and the sweetly sociological logic puzzles in another game. What category would fit them within current classifications? Simply put, no category fits.

Acknowledgment Issues

Many instances occur outstanding logic titles released every year without proper recognition during gaming ceremonies, unless they happen to qualify award groups including Mobile Game, Virtual reality experiences, or the intensely contested small studio competitions.

  • An iconic brain-teaser wasn’t nominated for anything during that awards season
  • Another creative title missed out that year
  • A beloved organization game got ignored that year
  • Limited numbers of puzzle games scraped into small studio or handheld classifications

Significance of Puzzle Games

Frequently they represent compact experiences, yet the craft in brain-teasers carries substantial weight. Well-known matching games rank among most engaged experiences in the world maintaining this status for many years.

The legendary block-stacking game challenges popular creative games for the title of most purchased experience; it additionally competes for best game of all time. Logic titles represent cornerstones within interactive entertainment, and they are in conversation across multiple categories.

Recommendation and Reasoning

Puzzle games wouldn’t have this problem. One could readily select five nominees with fascinating, diverse, deserving games annually without trouble — or rather, with difficulty, given the need to exclude numerous deserving experiences.

Restating the point, these include experiences that otherwise have no home in important events. Brain-teaser creators function at the demanding boundary of video game design, producing among most fundamental forms of gaming itself. Just like movie stunt professionals, they deserve recognition. We shouldn't delay generations.
